Hearts leapfrog Kotoko to the summit

Hearts of Oak have opened a two-point lead at summit of the Glo Premier League standings ahead of rivals, Asante Kotoko.

The Phobians defeated New Edubiase 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in a late kick off on Sunday to go top of the table for the second time this season.

But Hearts' victory is mired in controversy with their second goal by Joseph Tagoe on 83 minute after Uriah Asante's opener, at the centre of discussion.

Edubiase protested, arguing that the ball had not crossed the line but the match referee with no benefit of technology had given the goal.

Trials surrounding goal-line technology might have been reopened but Tagoe's goal awarded by referee Cecil Fleischer, has ignited calls for its introduction in the Ghana league.
