Family Members Chases Company

…Over Stool Land

The Family members of Osabunya of Ningo in the Greater Accra Region are up in arms a real estate developing company called Global Green Built Ghana (GRANHILL) over some acres of land they bought by dubious means in the area without the family’s consent.

The family is seriously angry with the company for not dealing with the rightful custodians of the land but rather went ahead to deal with Asafoatse Oketekyie Blebo Odiakosem IV, who was destooled some 10 years ago for some gross insubordination to the stool.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the head of family, Mr.Samuel Kofi Laplerku , hinted that the company has connived with the destooled Asafoatse to have easy access to the said acres of lands which are worth several millions of cedis.

Although, the company has launched its developmental plan to kick start it’s operations on the land, the Chief has warn them not to even step foot since all the necessary documentations have not be concluded to avoid chaos in the Ningo township.

According to Asafoatse Oketekyie Blebo Odiakosem V, the company has forged documents covering the said acres of land at the Lands Commission without the stool’s knowledge.

He stated that numerous letters have been written to management of the company but their have refused to comply for proper negotiations.

Meanwhile a letter signed by the Senior Registrar of Ningo Traditional Council, Mr. J.N.A Owuo indicates that “the family has as far back as the year 2000 installed Asafoatse Oketekyie Blebo Odiakosem V known private life as Mr. Moses Tetteh as the substantive chief of the family”.

The letter continued that the council therefore recognizes Asafoatse Oketekyie Blebo Odiakosem V as the substantive chief of the family, whose name also appears in the National Register of Chiefs. “Therefore, the Ningo Traditional Council can say for a fact that the said Asafoatse Odiakosem IV is not known by the council as chief and anyone calling himself as such should be treated with all the contempt that it deserves”.

This letter from the council, this paper learnt did not go down well with the real estate developers and rather went a heard to deal with the destooled chief. The actions of the self styled chief has created a lot of problems in the town whereby some residents on the said lands have been warn by the company to stay off the lands but Asafoatse Oketekyie Blebo Odiakosem V and his elders maintain that actions are dubious soliciting .

Information reaching this paper indicates that the company is now on face to face talk with the support of the residents to help kick start their projects in the area.

In a related development this paper gathered that neither the old Asafoatse nor the new nor both heads of families has received any payment from the company.

The information continued that investigations produced the fraudulent and defective title adding that the police advised peaceful settlement but the Granhill never honoured several invitations to have settlement.

Out of the blue the proper royal Osabnunya family elders and land lords were invited to a grand launching of the estate on their land which had been fraudulently protested.

The family has learnt that Granhill has been pursuing its tenants who have properly acquired their lands to do some “joint ventures” with them.
