Flee From Drug & Violence- Okyenhema

Her Regal personality was a personification of her royalty; and when she addressed some 500 youth at the Oforipanyinfie (Okyeman Palace) over the weekend, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokuaa speech was on target. To all Ghanaian youth to whom a better Ghana is thier goal, “flee from the use of drug and ethnic violence”.

The eloquent and action packed speech delivered by the Okyehema of the Abuakwa Royal State on Saturday October 15, admonished the youth “to see themselves as Ghanaian not Akan, Ewe, Ga, or any other tribe but unite in their adversity, like the Kente cloth she was wearing, to build a better Ghana”.
The Okyenhema also told the youth gathered at the palace to “flee from drug and drug dealers”.
Nana Adutwumwaa Dokuaa gave these advice at Oforipanyifie, against the backdrop of the picture of the Okyehene, when the “the Better Ghana’’ National Youth Caravan, made its final stop of the Eastern Regional leg of a nationwide tour, to disseminate the National Youth Policy.
Her timely, concise and astute statement to the youth comes at the heel of the “all die be die” statement by the Flag bearer, of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akuffo Addo which sort to incite supporters of the main opposition party to resort to violence in the event of a defeat in the next general elections.
The queen-mother spoke passionately about the need to encourage young people to safe guide their future and the future of the nation and was quite frank about her love and determination to see a better Ghana dream come through.
Despite public outrage over the reckless comment of the flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akuffo Addo and his bench men who have since been vigorously defending the “violence message”.
It would also be recalled that Nana Akuffo Addo, has been inundated with allegations of drug and narcotic usage which has been lingering over some time now.
Several public commentators have called on the flag bearer to seek a legal redress amidst damaging remarks by public figures about his alleged addiction to drug.
An NPP lawyer and cousin to Nana Akuffo Addo, Nana Asante Bediatuo’s legal threat, which had been the closest Nana Addo, went as far as his reaction to the drug allegations are concern was received by the public with a pinch of salt.
The New Patriotic Party has since not carried out the threat by Asante Bediatuo, and the flagbearer has also adopted the “speak no evil, hear no evil” tactics; pretending everything is well with his campaign.

Ironically, at the time of her (Nana Dokua’s) speech, there were very thick clouds hanging over the palace; rain clouds, but no rain.

About 500 youth, including some volunteers drawn from the Plant Parentwood Association, (PPAG), the National Youth Authority (NYA), and Dark Women of Change made a call on the Okyehemaa to disseminate the national youth policy to the youth of Okyeman.Ironically and incidentally Nana Addo is a native of Okyeman.

The visit is part of the ongoing tour by the youth across the country as a vehicle to reach-out to Ghanaian youth on the policies that concern them.
The caravan has already made a stop in the Volta, Upper East, Upper West and the Northern Regions.
