NPP Behind Doctors Strike?

Yet another intelligence gathered and published by
the Daily Post on the methods the NPP has decided to employ to oust the Mills
Administration from government is unfolding before the eyes of all Ghanaians.
In the Friday, September 24, 2010, issue of the
paper under the banner headline, HOW NPP
PLANS TO KICK NDC OUT OF POWER, the paper revealed how intelligence it had
gathered show the NPP was infiltrating identifiable organizations by getting
its fanatics elected into executives positions with the aim of getting them to
instigate strike actions or demonstrations against the government in order to
make it unpopular. Below are parts of the Daily Post’s publication on this

“Currently, intelligence picked up by the
Daily Post indicates that the NPP, as part of its plans to oust the NDC from
government intend to use the many identifiable organization in the country
against the ruling party.
“Their
modus operandi is going to be simple: get as many members or supporters of the
NPP into executive positions in the identifiable organizations who would adopt
uncompromising stance towards the Mills government when negotiating on labour
issue. After ensuring that the negotiation break down, they would lead their
unsuspecting members to embark on sit down strikes and demonstrations.
“The
strikes and demonstrations would not be aimed only at paralyzing the Mills
government but also portraying it as one that is not capable of taking care of
workers.
“The
media, which is largely pro-NPP will be at hand to ensure that news and
information regarding the strikes and demonstrations will not favor the Mills
government.
“Some
of the identifiable bodies which are targets of the NPP plan include the TUC,
NUGS, POTAG, GNUPS, Civil Servants Association, CLOSSAG, Maritime and Dook
workers Union and Guta.
“Others
are the Ghana Medical Association, GMA, the Ghana Registered Nurses
Association, GNAT and NAGRAT among many others.
“Already, the NPP has some of its
members in some of these associations. A notable example is the Civil Service
Council which has a Mr. Richard Bampoh Addo as a member. Bampoh Addo happens to
be the NPP’S polling station Chairman for the Kaneshie 1& 4 primary schools
in the Kaneshie-Awudome Electoral Area in Accra.
“His membership of the Civil Service
Council is a clear violation of the Civil Service Act which forbids Civil
Servants from engaging in party politics
So, alas,
the intel this paper gathered and published, and which was to alert the
government to enable it take pre-emptive measures has come to pass.
Juniour
nurses have been on strike for sometime now. They were joined by doctors the
Ghana Medical Association who have refused to yield to the voices of reason and
call off their strike.
Meanwhile,
teachers and pharmacists have given notice that they will embark on a strike
from next week if certain demands are not met.

Daily Post has gathered indicates that more strikes are in the offing and they
have political undertones.
