Killing of deformed children on rise in the Northern

Sang (N/R), Oct. 12, GNA - Rev. Fr. Cletus Akosah, Priest in-charge of Sang Rectorate, has said killing of deformed children in some parts of the Northern Region was on the rise. He said these children, labelled 93Spirit Children", are considered spirit children and evil.

The children have teeth, beard, pubic hair, both sex organs, protruding eyes, abnormally large head and inability to walk after age three.

A new religious congregation under the Catholic Diocese of Yendi called Marian Sisters of Eucharistic has established a home at Sang to rescue and take care of the children. Rv. Fr Akosah said this in an interview with the GNA when a three-member delegation from=A0the Rotary Club of Tamale led by Mr. Rene Dogbe, a Past President of the Club, visited the Home and made a cash donation for the upkeep of the children.

The Rev. Sr. Stan Therese Mario Mumuni, the caterer of the Home, said it was their aim to build a Home of their own to be able to accommodate many children.

She said a technical team from a United States-based non-governmental organization, t he West African Development Support Organization and the Engineering Ministries International (EMI), is preparing the design for a new Home to be called the Nazareth Home for God's Children.

Rev Sis Mumuni said the Congregation of Marian Sisters of Eucharistic Love had acquired eight acres of land for the project at the cost of $3,000.00 and expressed appreciation to the EMI group for its contribution.
