MTN Ghana to hit 10 million subscribers by November

Accra, Oct. 3, GNA - MTN Ghana, a multinational telecommunication service provider, is optimistic it would attain 10 million subscribers by the end of November, Mr Michael Ikpoki, Chief Executive Officer of the company announced on Monday. Currently, MTN has more than 9.9 million subscribers, representing 44-45 per cent of the Ghanaian population, but Mr Ikpoki expressed the optimism the company would exceed that mark. He was speaking at the launch of the company's 2011 Customer Service Week dubbed:

"Enriching Lives: Connecting with Our Customers," in Accra. Mr Ikpoki said the Customer Week celebration was to reaffirm the company's commitment to customers and to award them for their partnership. He added it was also to appreciate and motivate staff to give of their best. Mr Ikpoki said the company had invested heavily in voice and data networks to provide quality and wide coverage for its clients.

Mrs Jemima Kotei Walsh, Customer Service Relations Executive attributed the success of MTN's business in the country to customer confidence in the company. She appealed to customers to be wary of scammers who sent false text messages to subscribers. The MTN Group, established in 1994, operates in 21 countries in Africa, Asia and in the Middle East.
