Cinematograph Board responds to accusation

Accra, Sept. 19, GNA - The Ghana Cinematograph Exhibition Board of Control on Monday assured film producers, marketers and distributors that the trust they have in their operations is unwavering, and that materials submitted to them would be protected at all times.

The assurance was contained in a statement signed by Mr Isaac Dupey, Secretary to the Board in reaction to a publication on the Internet under the headline 93Someone from the Censorship Board has been leaking Shirley Frimpong Manso's movies before they come out."

It said the accusation was unfortunate and designed to tarnish the well-earned reputation of the Board.

"We would like to state that never in the history of the Board has any producer had cause to complain of a film submitted for preview and classification being leaked before they come out."

The statement said the Board had petitioned the Director-General CID at the Police Headquarters to investigate the matter thoroughly for the truth to be known.
