Prayer is the breath of the church-Bishop Richard

The General Overseer of the Living Grace Ministries, Rev. Dr. Richard Owusu Akyeaw, has reminded christians that they have been called to pray and that it is incumbent on them to constantly pray to achieve results.

He therefore charged believers to make prayer part of their lives because prayer is the breath of the church as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

Preaching the sermon, “Call To Prayer” at the Central Assembly of the Living Grace Ministries at Berlin Top in Sunyani, Bishop Richard expressed worry that “many have been called to pray but have lost the essence and significance of their calling by either refusing or failing to pray”.

The General Overseer noted that Christianity is not just about joining a church but praying without ceasing to achieve specific results, adding that some christians are called to mediate on behalf of their families and communities.

Bishop Richard said “as christians, we are to pray without ceasing until specific results happen”. “Some christians are called specifically to intercede on behalf of their families, others are to mediate for their communities”, he said.

He reminded the congregation that christians have been called to pray, preach, teach, cast out demons, meet needs of the poor and not spreading falsehood about the church.

“Christians are called to pray, preach, teach, cast out demons and assist the needy in the society”, he said. Bishop Richard challenged christians to pray for the church and the clergy and desist from rejoicing at the least misfortune that happens to a pastor.

He entreated members of the church actively participate in the two day fasting and prayer programme scheduled for Wednesday 24th August and Thursday 25th, August, 2011 at the Living Temple. The congregation would then hold a mega all night on Friday, August 26th from 9pm till 4am.
