Kofi Wayo: Parliamentarians Are Criminals

Maverick politician, “Chuck” Kofi Wayo has tongue-lashed members of the country’s law making body, Parliamentarians, labeling them as “criminals”.

Pontificating on “Common Sense”, a socio-political radio talkshow programme on VibeFM, of which incidentally he is the host, Kofi Wayo was unequivocal in his highly scathing remarks on Members of Parliament, not excluding the Speaker of the august House, Justice Joyce Bamford Addo, saying they are “criminals who make laws for us” to abide by.

“The Speaker of the House is always confused about the criminal actions of parliamentarians and her cheek bone shows it,” he said.

Cataloguing a litany of incidents he deems impugn the dignity of the House, the Founder and Leader of the United Renaissance Party (URP) cited the Amoateng case as a typical example saying, “a parliamentarian was arrested with cocaine and parliament did not sanction him, they were waiting for him to come back” to continue their work.

“Does the House has any sense of dignity?” he asked.

To him, Parliamentarians are only held in high regard in the country because of the country’s educational system.

“There is something wrong with our education. I bought a degree for my cousin for $12 and nobody questions him for calling himself a doctor,” he said.

Turning his attention on the shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Kofi Wayo was uncharitable on the Mills-Mahama administration, when he cheekily stated that instead of adopting measures to control the situation, the government is always paying a courtesy call on the “Minister of Heaven, Land and Sea” to have the situation fixed.
