Court remands driver for cutting-off boy's hand

Takoradi, Aug. 19, GNA 97 A 44-year-old driver Dominic Buah, who use= d machete to hack-off the left hand of Ebenezer Borlor, 17, unemployed, at Aiyinase in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, has been granted GH¢10,000 bail with two sureties to be justified. Buah appeared before Takoradi Circuit Court 91B' on Friday and ple= aded not guilty to the charge of causing unlawful harm. He would re-appear on September 2, this year.

Giving the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Seth Ahelegbe told the court presided by Mr. Charles Bamford Nimako that on May 11th this year at about 1830 hours, a quarrel ensued between the accused and the complainant who live in the same house.

Chief Inspector Ahelegbe said it was amicably resolved, but the next day, when the accused was washing his face in the morning, he re-ignited th= e quarrel, which resulted into a fist fight.

Some residents separated them but Buah who was not satisfied, went inside his room and picked a machete, which he used to cut-off the left wrist hand of Borlor. The complainant bled profusely and was rushed to the St. Martin's D= E Porres Hospital at Eikwe where he was admitted for treatment. A report was made to the police but the accused fled from the town. H= e was arrested after he resurfaced from his hideout and put before the court for prosecution.
