Farm Channel launches agricultural television programs on GTV

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – An educational agricultural television programme dubbed: “Farm Channel” has been launched to start airing on GTV from 0530 hours to 0600 hours every Friday.

Farm Channel, an initiative of Praxis Africa, is a new social marketing communication platform dedicated to Agriculture, Food and Rural Development in Ghana, Africa.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday and initialed by Tony Mensah-Abrampah, the Project Team Leader, said the first 12 episodes of the programme would focus on proper and effective use of agricultural inputs.

Future topics will include information about environmentally sustainable practices, insights about markets and marketing information and market-based production.

All players in the agricultural sector are encouraged to take keen interest in the programme in order to examine issues from a systemic perspective.

“The Farm Channel is committed to supporting the development of Ghana’s agricultural sector by providing informative and educational programming,” the statement said.

The pilot episodes are being sponsored through a private-public partnership including support from The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Yara Ghana Ltd. and GIZ.

“The Ministry is very happy to support this initiative that will continue to ensure that appropriate information is being circulated in the sectors,” Dr. Kwame Amezah, Director of Extension Services at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture said at the launch.

Farm Channel also aims at the Agriculture Value chain and those who will disseminate relevant information to the Agricultural, Food & Rural development corridors such as decision makers, farm managers, investors, agro suppliers, responsible purchasers, Information communication agents, advocacy groups, and financial institutions.
