"Mosquito" Bites Akomea

By Susan Dapaah

Through his reaction to comments made by a Deputy Minister of Tourism, James Agyenim Boateng during a radio programme on Saturday, August 6, 2010, Nana Akomea, the NPP’s Director of Communication has advertised to the world that he is indeed, not an intelligent person!

This is the view of the NDC’s General-Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia when he bared his heart out to the Daily Post in reaction to comments by NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, that he will not sanction Akomea because his resort to vulgar and abusive language during a live radio programme was the result of provocation. “When you listen to the tape, it began with an assertion by Hon. Agyenim-Boateng that he doesn’t think that the Press Conference that was held by the NPP was properly thought through, So it means that it wasn’t an intelligent move.

“He was describing an action. He was not saying that Nana Akomea was not an intelligent person. Be that as it may, Nana Akomea sought to interpret that statement to mean that he is not an intelligent person. “Now, so if you disagree with Agyenim-Boateng about your level of intelligence and you proceed to react in the manner you did, you have now left all of us, observers, clearly in no doubt about your level of intelligence because ask yourself, is that how intelligent people react when they are even provoked? The answer is no! “So he himself has advertised to Ghanaians that he is indeed not an intelligent person because that is not how intelligent people react when they are provoked. Agyenim-Boateng, after all, has been vindicated by the evidence supplied by Nana Akomea.

“May I remark, I was surprised to hear one of their Spokespersons who was doing a follow up interview on Joy FM when he indicated that they are not insisting that i the voice on the tape is that of Baba Jamal but they want the nation to analyse the content. What type of intelligence is this?” Many Ghanaians were horrified in the morning of that fateful Saturday to hear NPP’s Director of Communication using those vulgar and abusive words on the Deputy Minister for Tourism. The sense and sensibility of many more has been insulted by the tacit approval Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP flag bearer, has given to Nana Akomea for his conduct.
