DEA clears Akufo-Addoâ

?¦and confirms he has no criminal record in US!

The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) of the United States of America (USA) through its Accra Country Office, has upheld the veracity of the information provided by two legitimate American law enforcement agencies debunking media allegations that the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Presidential Flagbearer for Election 2012, Nana Akufo-Addo, was once arrested at the John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport by US anti-narcotics authorities for allegedly possessing illicit drugs.

In response to a letter of enquiry/verification of information sent to the DEA’s Accra Country office at the Embassy of the United States in Ghana, Mr. Jeffery P. Breeden, the Head of the outfit, underscored that “the two letters you sent me are from LEGITIMATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES in the US which state THE SUBJECT HAS NO CRIMINAL RECORD IN THE US”. (Emphasis – Ours).

“I see no need to provide any further verification reference this issue”, emphasised Mr. Breeden.

Mr. Breeden’s brief response was in response to enquiries made by The New Crusading GUIDE in the wake of some inexplicable doubts raised by some pro-NDC media advocates, spin doctors, social commentators and government officials about the authenticity and value of a communication from the Port Authority of New York (NY) and New Jersey (NJ)) put out last week by the Legal Team of the NPP Flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo, in reaction to the continuing campaign of defamation and character assassination against the latter.

The letter of enquiry/verification of information dated August 3, 2011, requested the US DEA (via its Accra Country Office Head) to validate the authenticity or otherwise of the published communication from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and another one, from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority which had not been made public by then. It also wanted to know whether per the records of the US DEA, Nana Akufo Addo had ever been arrested for allegedly possessing illicit drugs including cannabis at an American Airport.

Our letter of enquiry also sought to know the DEA’s position on how the American Legal Regime treats persons who may enter the US jurisdiction in possession of small quantities of cannabis for personal use and who may be clothed with diplomatic immunity.

As indicated earlier and supported by a series of email correspondence published on pages 2&3 of today’s edition of The New Crusading GUIDE, the US DEA (Accra Country Office) has made it clear that the information provided by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and the Port Authority of New York (NY) and New Jersey (NJ) in 2007 and 2008 respectively, both of which were in response to enquiries made by the Legal Team of Nana Akufo Addo, constituted an officially sanctioned denial and refutation of the mischievous and malicious allegation against Akufo Addo.

The Head of the US DEA (Accra Country Office) was also emphatic that in view of the information from the two “legitimate law enforcement agencies in the US” that “the subject has no criminal record in the US” , he (DEA Accra Country Office Head – Jeffrey P. Breeden) saw “no need to provide any further verification reference this issue” . In otherwords, the US DEA (Accra Country Office) was in effect, corroborating the information provided by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority!

“The brief but concise response from the DEA Accra Country Office Head should underscore the extent of the ineptitude and malice driving the position and posturing of all those NDC media spin doctors who were/are stubbornly refusing to concede that their story of an alleged arrest of Nana Akufo-Addo at an American Airport, was/is not only bogus but fraudulent. Would they now have the courage and sense of decency to concede defeat and refrain from their infantile, arrogant, kindergarten behaviour even if they will not openly apologise for their eternal folly and perennial mischief in the face of the official corroboration by the US DEA's Accra Country Office?”, wondered a media analyst who requested anonymity.

"I have my doubts. Their track-record suggest they will just shift the goal post and introduce new elements into the debate. Sad commentary on the quality of Ghanaian public discourse and media standards", added he.

Please stay tuned for more factual exposure(s) of the Campaign of Lies and Character Assassination against Nana Akufo-Addo in subsequent editions of The New Crusading GUIDE.
