RUPFA donates to Shama flood victims

Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - The management of Rural Urban Partnership for Africa (RUPFA), a Non-Governmental Organization, has donated second clothin= g worth GH¢600 to flood victims at Shama in the Western Region. A statement issued by RUPFA and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the donation was part of the organization's social responsibility to resp= ond to the needs of affected people in the society.

Mr Richard Ashaley, Executive Director of RUPFA, noted that the donation was to complement the efforts of governmental agencies like the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in reaching out to those affected by natural disasters. The statement said the organization would re-visit the community of Shama after they had gathered other resources that would be beneficial to the community.

"Flood is a natural disaster and though lives have been lost through that, they should stop lamenting and never give up since all is not lost,= " it added. Mr Isaac Lokko, the National Mission Coordinator for RUPFA, said the organisation has been donating to people in need at hospitals, orphanages, and also visit prisoners to interact with them not to lose faith in their Creator. Mr Justice Jadu, a resident in the area, expressed appreciation for th= e gesture and attributed the major cause of the flooding in the area to poor drainage system. Mr Jadu said River Anakore in the community had no proper channel into the sea, which did not allow free flow of rain anytime there was a heavy down pour.
