Thirteen Prison Officers promoted

Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills, acting on the advice of the Prisons Service Council, has approved the promotion of 13 Prison Superior Officers.

A statement issued in Accra on Friday by Assistant Superintendent of Prisons, Courage Atsem said Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP), Al-Hassan Kabriba Legibo has been promoted to Director of Prisons.

Twelve others, who have been promoted from Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) to

Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP), with effect from August, 1, this year, are: Stephen Cofie,

Lord Nii Boye Tagoe, Alexander Kwame Kuma Kpeli, Sylvester Kojo Badu Rabble= s and Ali

Albert Dery. The rest are, Josephine Fredua-Agyemang, William Ofori Anoff, Al-Hassa= n A. Nahii,

James Amankra-Yeboah, James Ebenle Kaku, Francis Aabobrme Kofi Benon and Leopold Amoah Kwame Ansah.

The statement said in view of the promotions and exigencies of the Service, appointments to command positions had also been made. Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP), Mr Mike Owusu-Amponsah is now Greater Accra Regional Commander, DDP Isaac Frimpong-Manso, Head of Commercial Department, Prisons Headquarters, Accra and DDP Mina Ahwa-Yankey, Central Regional Commander.

The rest are, DDP Stephen Cofie, Officer-In- charge, Senior Correctional Centre, Accra, DDP Al-Hassan A. Nahii, Upper East Regional Commander, DDP Francis K.A. Benon, Commandant, Prison Officers' Training School, Accra and DDP L. K. A. Ansah, Officer-In-Charge, Ankaful Main Camp Prison.

The Prisons Administration on behalf of President Mills, Minister for the Interior, Acting

Chairman and members of the Prisons Service Council, congratulated the officers on their

promotion and wished them God's blessings and guidance for the task ahead= ..
