Vodafone Office in Takoradi closed-down for non-payment of tax

Takoradi, July 28, GNA - The Vodafone office in Takoradi was on Thursday morning closed down by the Revenue Collectors Taskforce of the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) for alleged non-payment of taxes.

The Vodafone Internet Cafe had more than 50 clients at the time with some expressing their disappointment when they were evicted in order to carry out the exercise.

The staff appeared helpless and just became onlookers as the exercise proceeded with the aid of Police officers.

A customer who claimed he was checking the Basic Education Certificate Examination result of his ward said: “I’m so disappointed....Indeed, they have wasted my time and money.”

However, Mr Joseph K. Kyei, Commercial Manager, of the Takoradi Office, said the company honoured its tax obligations annually, adding it was unfortunate that this year’s payment had delayed.

He said with the company’s lawyer he would settle the matter amicably with the STMA.
