MoH commends Vodafone

for offering free calls to doctors

Accra, July 26, GNA - The Ministry of Health on Tuesday commended Vodafone Ghana for offering free calls to medical doctors registered with the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) through its Closed User Group (CUG) package.

“The Ministry acknowledges the fact that the availability of the package to members of the GMA is a novelty in Ghana with a certain novelty value for effective and efficient health care delivery,” it said in a statement signed by Mr Dan Osman Mwin, Head of Public Relations.

It said the Ministry of Health was associating itself with this level of collaboration between the GMA and Vodafone Ghana because it was aimed at providing customized communication solutions for doctors by enabling members of the Association in all the regions to communicate with each other on Vodafone network completely free of charge.

“We are further associating ourselves with this relationship because the service will in addition facilitate the flow of communication within and between regions to discuss medical cases and thereby increase productivity of doctors within CUG and prevent needless deaths.”

The Ministry thanked the management of Vodafone Ghana for its contribution to the development of the health sector in particular and Ghana in general and urged other communication networks as well as civil society organizations to emulate their good example.
