Mensah seals French move

Jonathan Mensah has agreed terms on a deal to play for French top-flight side Evian after passing a medical on Wednesday.

Mensah told KickOffGhana.com that he had come through the medical successfully and expects to sign a three- or four-year deal later on Thursday.

It will end his stay at Italian side Udinese but more importantly Mensah reckons it will allow him the opportunity for regular football.

The center-back, who played for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup, has been handed the number 25 jersey and says he cannot wait to begin.

"I am very very happy that this is done. My mum always told me to grab opportunities when they come because it may come once and I want to grab this opportunity well," he said.

Mensah spent last season on loan at Spanish side Granada and helped them reach La Liga.

But he was unhappy at the limited opportunities for regular football and hopes the Evian move will rectify that.

"It would have been nice to play in La Liga but I wanted assurances I will get my opportunities and did not get. I will work hard here and hopefully get that."
