104 employees of AngloGold awarded

Tarkwa, June 5, GNA - One hundred and four employees of Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine at Tarkwa, have been awarded for their long and dedicated service to the company.

Employees, who have served for 20 years, received two-and-half packets of roofing sheets, 20 bags of cements and a small generator. Those who worked for 15 years received one-and-half packets of roofing sheets and a deep freezer.

Employees, who have served the company for 10 years and five years respectively, received a double door fridge or gas cooker with oven and cylinder or a 21 colour television or a table top fridge. All award winners were presented with certificates in addition. The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Billy Mawasha, said the annual award scheme initiated in 1995, was to express gratitude to employees, who have worked hard to sustain the company.

He said this year, 8,500 Ghana cedis were spent on the awards adding that the company would do its best to retain its workers. Mr. Mawasha said the company would continue to provide a safe environment for its workers and improve on their welfare. Mr. Ebenezer Aggrey, an award winner, on behalf of his colleagues thanked the company for the kind gesture.
