Ex-minister commends delegates for successful primaries

Busunya (B/A) May 4, GNA - Nana Kwadwo Kwarkye, former Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has commended delegates to the party's primaries at Nkoranza North constituency for the orderly and peaceful manne= r they conducted themselves. He said the success of the exercise in the constituency and other area= s was a good omen for the eventual victory of the party in the 2012 general election and called on members and supporters of the party to support the winning candidates.

Addressing the delegates after the exercise at Busunya, he said 93the victory of any contestant is a victory for all members of the party. He said the losing candidates should collaborate with their winning colleagues and assist them to win the parliamentary seats in their constituencies in 2012.

Nana Kwarkye cautioned the endorsed parliamentary aspirants to avoid unsavoury utterances against political opponents during the electioneering campaigns for the sake of peace in their constituencies in particular and the country in general.

He commended officials of the Electoral Commission, the security agencies as well as the party's local election committee for the successf= ul election. Major Derrek Yaw Oduro (rtd), the incumbent MP, was re-elected to contest the seat as he polled 205 votes out of the 362 ballots cast to beat his contestants James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah who had 110 votes and Madam Gift= y Akorsah, who got 45 votes. In the Nkoranza South constituency, Mr. Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi, incumbent MP was also retained un-opposed.
