Konadu Will Poll 90% If

Related Stories Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has stated emphatically that former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings who has indicated her willingness to contest President Mills for the flagbearership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will poll some 90 percent of delegates’ votes if the presidency race were to be a dancing competition.

According to him, Nana Konadu is such a great dancer who does not resist the temptation to display her pirouetting skills whenever the opportunity presents itself.

His comment comes in the wake of a peacefmonline.com and other media reports that in a subtle but strategic campaign move, “Mrs. Rawlings has since last December patronized almost all the big stage entertainment events in the country, ostensibly to endear herself to the showbiz community and youthful population.

The 62-year-old Nana Konadu was seen on television screens cat-walking the ‘Yellow Carpet’ at the recent Ghana Music Awards; and on Good Friday, she turned up, almost dressed to kill, at the FAMOUS 5 concert where she was caught boogieing with high life Don Abrantie Amakye Dede and Kwami Sefa Kayi among others.

But speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning Show, the seasoned journalist pointed that though Mrs Rawlings is a great dancer, the NDC flagbearer race is in no way a dancing competition.

“The kind of dance moves you (Kwami Sefa Kayi) and the former first lady showcased was quite extraordinary. I never knew this woman could put up such a spectacular dance performance like that…This is not the first time too, do you recall the Ghana Music Awards, I saw her there and she exhibited some rare dance steps. If it (the NDC flagbearer race) was to be a dancing competition, she would poll over 90% of votes, but what she intends partaking in is not a dancing competition,” he jokingly said.

He reiterated that he will be hugely disappointed if Nana Konadu has a sudden change of mind and decides not to contest for the flagbearership. According to him, Mrs. Rawlings did not speak in isolation when she decided to contest so she has to see through her decision to the end.

“I will be disappointed if Konadu changes his mind in the middle of the road because she did not speak in isolation. She took a stance, so she must stand by it…Those calling on her not to go should cease appealing to her. As a Ghanaian, she qualifies under the Ghanaian constitution to stand for election so nobody has the right to stop her from contesting,” he noted.
