Clergy urges Ghanaians to make peace with one another

Cape Coast, April 22, GNA - The Presiding Elder of the James Varik AME Zion Church, Rev. Wilberforce Wireko, on Good Friday, implored Ghanaians to make the significance of Easter reflect in their personal lives.

Rev. Wilberforce Wireko said the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Good Friday, epitomizes how sacrificial Christians should be to reconcile with one another, heal broken wounds and live peacefully with one another.

He said strained relationship between God and human kind was mended when Jesus offered himself to die for mankind, hence different tribes and religions should patch up their diversities. At a church Service to mark the Day, he said instead of finding faults and accusing one another, Ghanaians should offer constructive criticisms for the development of the country and be tolerant with each other.

Rev. Wireko said so long as human being are not sacrosanct, they should resolve to live peacefully. He also advised drivers to exercise restraints on the roads to avoid accidents

Rev. Dr. Anakwa of the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, who delivered a sermon on the theme, 93The meaning of the suffering of Christ", said the passion, death and sacrifice of Jesus meant that Jesus sacrificed to save mankind.

"Christ's coming to the world and living an exemplary life shows that, as Christians, we should sacrifice for one another and as a people to the nation, because Jesus was selfless and offered himself to save the lives of others. He advised the church leadership, politicians and all entrusted with power to use their office to benefit the vulnerable in society, intimating that, the life of Jesus was based on love and not retaliation; hence politicians and all leaders must endeavour to avoid it.
