Deputy Minister of Education involved in accident

Tamale, March 27, GNA - Mr Mahama Ayariga, Deputy Minister of Education, is receiving emergency medical attention at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital after he was involved in an accident at Nasia, near Walewale, on Sunday morning. Mr Ayariga was travelling with his driver and a lady when the accident occurred. The driver and the lady, who sustained minor injuries, have since been treated and discharged.

According to a source at the hospital, the accident occurred when the driver of the Deputy Minister's car tried to avoid an abandoned vehicle on the road and in the process run into an oncoming vehicle. When the Ghana News Agency visited the hospital, a team of medical doctors were seen attending to Mr Ayariga in the ICU. The doctors however refused to comment on his condition. Dr Ken Sagoe, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, who also declined to comment, said a statement would be issued to the press later.
