It was good that he gave an example of what is happening in the Gambia with the withdrawal of the U.S. aid. I have always felt that Gambia should not exist as a country. Gambia should have merged with Senegal to form one country. Afterall they are one people with one religion and united with one language (the Wollof). Even if Senegal and the Gambia currently speaks French and English respectively, they could still unite as done in Canada. Selfishness is what is killing us in Africa.

@kwesida. Stop with your stupid argument. Both Canada and the United States are extremely rich countries endorsed with numerous natural resources. The same can not be said of the Gambia.

@kwesida. Probably that is exactly the reason why Donald Trump wants Canada to join the United States because they are predominantly English speaking with no tribal underlay. The same analogy could be applied to the Gambia and Senegal as pointed out by David above. Both the Gambia and Senegal are Wollof speaking people with no tribal undertones. In fact during the colonial period, the French offered the whole of Ivory Coast to the British in exchange of the Gambia (so Gambia could be part of Senegal) but the British declined the offer because they wanted to have access to the Gambian river.

After uncapping the fund, it's expected that more money will be available to support the Scheme, but rather, the additional funds are being channeled to projects previously financed by USAID. This is an interesting revelation.
