Woman robber grabbed

The Mile 7 Police in Accra yesterday arrested two robbers including a woman, who robbed a man of his G¢1,500.

The robbers are 25-year-old Abla Agyepomaa and Kwabena Mensah, 32, a taxi driver.

The Accra Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP Christian T. Yohuno told DAILY GUIDE that the robbers, together with another suspect, posed as a taxi driver and passengers on board a vehicle, picking the victim, Daniel Roland, at Achimota.

He said the victim was earlier seen by the robbers coming out of the Achimota branch of the Merchant Bank with a polythene bag containing the money.

"When the robbers saw the man coming from the bank, they picked him in their taxi with registration number GW 7286 U and headed towards Dome."

He said when the victim got to his destination, he realized that the door was locked.

"In an attempt to open the door, Abla Agyapomaa took the money from the victim."

ACP Yohuno maintained that the victim, upon realizing that the money had been snatched by the lady, shouted for help but the taxi driver and the rest drove off.

He said when the three realized that they were being chased, they took out the money and threw away the robber bag on the road for the victim to pick.

"A police man who chanced upon the speeding taxi, shot at the tyres and the two were arrested while one escaped with the money," the Police chief said.

The deputy regional commander said the driver, Kwabena Mensah, and Abla Agyepomaa were arrested and handed over to the Mile 7 Police Station.

The police are leaving no stone unturned in a bid to arrest the robbers' accomplice.
