Kweku Baako’s Spies Busted At Tema Habour

Credible information available to your authoritative, The Catalyst, indicate that two women who were last Wednesday busted by Tema Habour security, were spying on security officers and secretly filming and recording them at restricted areas of the port. According to a source close to the police, the suspects have since confessed they were sent by the editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide and his ‘boy’ investigative reporter, Anas Aremyaw Anas. The Tema Regional Police Commander, ACP Augustine Gyenning, has confirmed the arrest of the two ladies and said the suspects, who were first sent to the Tema office of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) have been released on bail whilst the investigation continues.

The two undercover agents of Mr. Baako and his deputy whose real names are Jennifer Anderson and Rukaya Musa, The Catalyst has learnt, went to the port about a month ago with the pseudo names Mame Esi and Mame Afua respectively, under the pretext of making enquires about how to purchase goods on auction in order to sell in their shops at Abbosey Okai in Accra.

The two ladies, who had no idea they were under surveillance within the port upon their arrival there on Wednesday 11th August 2010, thought they had outwitted the port security and went into action with fervour. Luck however run out on them and they were arrested whilst secretly filming and recording security officers at restricted areas of the port.

Jennifer Anderson was the first to be arrested whiles secretly filming and recording officers of CEPS on duty. Her counterpart, “Mame Afua” was later smoked out of her hiding place, in the administration block of the Golden Jubilee Terminal.

They later confessed they were sent on the assignment by Crusading Guide. A search conducted on the suspects revealed a button-like camera hidden in a handkerchief by Rukaya Musa alias ‘Mame Afua’ which had various recordings of security personnel operating at the terminal.

Jennifer’s camera which looked like a lady’s purse also had tons of secret recordings at restricted area on it.

According to this paper’s information, the ladies displayed unprofessionalism when arrested. “They were crying like babies and pleading for mercy,” a CEPS source told The Catalyst.

The source said they were inconsistent in the information they gave upon their arrest. Jennifer Anderson, the paper was told, said she purchased her camera at Kaneshie market, and then later, she mentioned a sister as the one who gave it to her, but ended up saying that it was given her by Anas Aremeyaw Anas for the assignment.

The CEPS officials however suspect a grand agenda on the part of Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his boss at the New Crusading Guide to taint the service with corruption. This is because, according to them, unknown to the two ladies, they were aware of their intention to try to bribe them whilst filming them at the same time.

Several calls placed to Mr. Kweku Baako’s cell phone were picked by an answering device. Anas could also not be reached before the paper went to bed. Stay tuned.
