150 Ivorian refugees arrive in Western Ghana

About 150 refugees from Cote d’Ivoire have entered the Western Region of Ghana.

The Western Regional Director of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Japheth Baidoo, told the GNA that with events unfolding in that country, it is necessary for Ghana to stand in readiness for more refugees.

The refugees came through Princess Akatakye, Abuesi, Aboadze and other coastal areas of the region.

He said observing the situation and getting ready is important.

To this end, a Joint Regional Operation Team code named ‘Ouagbo’ has been inaugurated to handle the unfolding events in Cote D’Ivoire.

Mr. Baidoo said one of the major consequences of an escalation would be a large influx of displaced persons into Ghana especially through the Western Border.
