Be moderate in political talks-Lodonu

Ho, Dec 25, GNA-Right Rev Francis Anani Lodonu, Bishop of the Ho Diocese of the Catholic Church, on Christmas Day called on Ghanaians to mirror moderation in their political expositions, as the country gears up slowly for the next major elections. He observed that the high political tempo engendered by the December local government elections would not abate but rather usher in a strenuous politicking for the 2012 general elections. Bishop Lodonu was delivering the Christmas homily at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Bankoe in Ho. He said it was not enough accusing politicians and their cohorts with use of hot-headed language and that Ghanaians as individuals should endeavour to promote political tolerance by their utterances. Bishop Lodonu said the indicative higher inflows into government appropriation kitties, from the crude oil business, could draw more people into the political contest, and make the race hotter.

He therefore pleaded for circumspection from all, saying it was the things we say as individuals, attitudes and reactions that would aggregate into the peace that the nation needed.

Bishop Lodunu asked for prayers for calm in Cote d' Ivoire, so that the political turbulence there did not worsen. He however said while praying for Cote d' Ivoire, Ghanaians should n= ot forget that all was not well with Ghana because the raging criminal activities, such as armed robberies, arbitrariness and cruelty against one another posed a threat to the peace of the nation. Bishop Lodonu prayed that the peace radiated by the yuletide, reflecte= d in the inter-personal relationships at homes, churches and society, to positively affect the whole nation.
