Catholic University students appeal for help

Fiapre (B/A) Dec. 24, GNA - Students of the Catholic University Coll= ege of Ghana (CUCG) at Fiapre, near Sunyani in Brong-Ahafo have appealed to the government and private business concerns to assist in rehabilitating the dusty five-kilometre-road that links the campus to Fiapre town. This was contained in a press statement signed by Michael Sumaila, President of the local branch of Private University Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) and made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA). It said the road, which was the only entry and exit rout of the university needed reshaping and surfacing to ease the transportation difficulties that the students and other road users faced.

The statement explained that the road was not only not tarred and dust= y but also very narrow, posing a great danger to life and property. Meanwhile in an interview with the GNA, Sumaila added that the situation had caused a number of motor accidents and cited that between September and December this year about four accidents had occurred. He said the latest one was a collision involving the Student Representative Council (SRC) 46-seater Daewoo bus and a taxi-cab. Sumaila said the cab driver sustained some injuries and was admitted a= t the Regional Hospital in Sunyani.
