Electoral Areas in Gomoa East and West districts increase

Apam (C/R), Nov 26, GNA - Electoral areas in the Gomoa East District has increased from 21 to 27 and those of Gomoa West District have gone up from 32 to 36, Mr Moses Wuni and Mr Stephen Bertino, Gomoa East and West Electoral Officers respectively, have said. Mr Bertino old the GNA in an interview at Apam that the former unit committees, which had membership of 15 made up of 10 elected and five appointees, had been re-designated Electoral Area Committees with membership of five elected members. Mr Wuni said Gomoa East now has 27 Electoral Area Committees instead of 69 former Unit Committees and Mr Bertino said Gomoa West had 36 instead of 95 Unit Committees.

Mr Bertino mentioned the new Electoral Areas as Amanful/Obir which was carved from Nkum/Hwida Electoral Area, Mankessim carved from Dunkwa/Mankessim Electoral Area and Ajumako Ansa/Asempanyin Electoral Area. Abonyi/Abaasa/Ayensuadze has been carved from mangoase/Abonyi/Abaasa/Ayensuadze Electoral Area, Potsin/Okyereko carved from Dominase/Potsin/Okyereko Electoral Area, Buduburam cared from Tetteh/Buduburam Electoral Area and Nyanyano Kakraba carved from Nyanyano Upper Electoral Area.

Dampase has been carved from Dampase/Enyaankor/Onyinase Electoral Area and Dasum Amoanda which was carved from Buduatta/Odumase Electoral Area. Mr Bertino appealed to the aspirants and the electorate to cooperate with the electoral officers as the late passage of the law, District Assembly Election (Amendment Act 2010) had put a lot of pressure on the Electoral Commision as far as the District Assembly Election on December 28 was concerned.
