Czech energy experts call on Veep

Accra, Nov. 23, GNA - Energy experts from the Czech Republic have called on Vice President John Dramani Mahama, at the Osu Castle to seal their investment interests in Ghana's energy sector. The visit was a follow up to the Vice President's recent investment tour to the Czech Republic.

Leading the delegation was Mr Frantisek Vladar, Director of International Division at CDK Energy, experts in Power Transmission and Generation, who are in the country to hold discussions with the Ghana Grid Company Limited and other stakeholders in power supply. Mr Mahama assured the delegation of Ghana's commitment to private sector participation in the energy sector, stressing that with collaboration the country would be a better place as an investment destination. He said Ghana's credentials as an oasis of peace and a stable democratic dispensation had put her miles ahead of other countries in attracting foreign investment.

In the Czech Republic Vice President Mahama appealed to the Prime Minister Petr Necas to support Ghana's development efforts. Their meeting centred on three major issues- power and electricity generation, urban transport and the maximum use of oil and gas in Ghana as soon as the exploitation begins.

Vice President Mahama called on the Czech government to send a team of experts to Ghana to embark on an urban rail system to help decongest roads in the major cities and help create more jobs for the unemployed.
