INTERPOL arrests Johnson Kombian

Tamale, Nov. 20, GNA - Johnson Kombian Gulkuun, alias "Burger", blamed by the Ghana Police Service for shooting and killing two of its personnel on patrol duty at Nakpanduri in the Northern Region in October, has been arrested in Togo.
Johnson Kombian who fled to the neighbouring country after committing the alleged crime was arrested by the International Police (INTERPOL). The fugitive escaped from Ghana after an operation by the police to apprehend him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Roy Ayinibisa Amuni, Regional Commander who made this known to the Ghana News Agency, in Tamale on Saturday said Johnson Kombian was arrested on Friday evening when he crossed the border at Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District to visit his girl friend. He said Johnson Kombian a convict, who escaped from Tamale Prisons in January this year, would be brought to Ghana soon to face the law. DCOP Amuni said the fugitive was hovering between Nakpunduri and Togo necessitating the involvement of INTERPOL to effect his arrest. He said Kombian is on record to have committed a number of criminal offences and escaped from jail a number of times.
