Stars intensify training for CAN 2012 qualifier against Sudan

Ghana Black Stars on Wednesday intensified their training session at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra in preparation for their up-coming 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.

The Stars had a 21 member contingent in camp including most of the players who featured in the World Cup in South Africa.

APA learns here on Wednesday that deputy coach, Kwesi Appiah has been given the interim mandate to handle the Stars against Sudan and has invited most of the core players of the Black Stars to feature in the game, which is scheduled to be played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana’s second largest city.

Some of the players in camp include World Cup stars, Andre Dede Ayew, Anthony Annan, Isaac Vorsah, Lee Addy, and Asamoah Gyan, among others.

The Stars are expected to leave Accra for Kumasi on Friday.

The Black Stars top Group I with three points and three goals and a victory would boost their qualification to the 2012 African Cup scheduled for Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, who are co-hosting the event.
