Mills holds talks with Prime Minister of Japan

President John Evans Atta Mills has held bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of Japan, Naoto Kan, at his official residence in the Japanese capital of Tokyo .

Issues discussed ranged from trade and investment, Health, infrastructural development and international security.

Before moving into the closed door bilateral talks, the Japanese Prime Minster, Naoto Kan, congratulated Ghana for establishing herself as the school for democracy on the African continent.

He said Japan is pleased to have Ghana as a partner because Ghana over the years has demonstrated that Africa has the potential to rule the world if given the opportunity.

Prime Minister Kan said Japan is taking the opportunity of the President’s visit to strengthen bilateral relations with Ghana and also find new areas that Japan can be of help to Ghana.

Prime Minister Kan recounted the historic visit of the Crown Prince to Ghana, the adventure of Dr Noguchi and other assistance that Japan has been offering to Ghana saying, in Ghana , Japan has a true friend.

President Mills said that Ghana appreciates all the developmental assistance it has being receiving from Japan over the years. He said the willingness of Japan to assist Ghana is a clear testimony that Africa can look up to Asian to advance the continent’s development.

He said Ghana will continue to collaborate with Japan as the world has now become interdependent.

He said Ghana is blessed with a lot of natural resources and therefore will solicit Japan's assistance especially in the field of technology to turn the country’s raw materials into finished products.
