Presbyterian Men fellowship challenged to invest in oil business

Ho, Aug. 26, GNA - The Rev Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has appealed to the church's Men's Fellowship in the Western Region to explore avenues for investment in the emerging oil industry in the region.

He said this when he addressed the Fellowship at its delegates' conference held in Ho under the theme, 93Empowered by the Holy Spirit for Impartial Leadership."

The Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso said the Men's Fellowship in the Western Region would have no excuse for failing to rake in part of the expected good harvests from the oil industry.

He said as an influential and driving force in the Church, the Men's Fellowship must lead the way in exploring business avenues that could make the church less reliant on its traditional sources of funding such as offertory and other levies.

The Rev Dr Frimpong Manso said members of the Church were becoming fatigued by the over-reliance of the Church on such means of raising funds to support its activities.

He said the members, especially the poor, must be made to feel the positive impact of their sacrifices and faith in keeping the Church going.

The Rev Dr. Frimpong-Manso said the Church would be venturing into a number of business activities including hospitality and packaged water.
