Bechem zone emerges champions of gala soccer competition

Derma, (B/A) Aug. 10, GNA - Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw has called on the youth to avoid petty squabbles and bickering to enable the government carry out and implement its development projects to achieve the "Better Ghana" agenda.

Dr Bisiw noted that even though elections can likely bring about divisions and every individual has the right to belong to any political party, the differences among the people needs to be patched up for a common goal to accelerate the development of the various communities.

The Deputy Minister made the call at a football gala organised in her honour for eight zones in Tano South District at Derma in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Dr Bisiw said that the District has the potential and human resources, which if tapped well can provide employment to the people to help accelerate the development of the area and raise the status of the people.

She promised to collaborate with the District Assembly to open up job opportunities for the youth.

The participating zones were Bechem, Brosankro, Dwomo, Mansin, Derma, Ankaase, Subiriso and Techimantia.

At the end of the competition Bechem zone emerged champions and received a cash prize of GHC 1000, a set of jerseys and a football.

Dwomo zone placed second and took home GHC 500, a set of jerseys and a football while the host zone, Derma placed third and received GHC 300 and a football.

In another development, Dr Bisiw led a team of medical personnel made up of Cuba trained Ghanaians with the accolade La Vanguardua of which she is the secretary to administer free medical care to the people of Derma and its environs.
