Patriotic Youth Front sends goodwill message to Flagbearer aspirants

Accra, Aug.4, GNA - The Patriotic Youth Front (PYF), a youth wing of the NPP, on Wednesday send goodwill message the five contenders, seeking to lead the party in Election 2012.

It said "the historical and bold expansion of the party delegates, to elect a Flagbearer was a vivid manifestation of the rich democratic credentials of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, which had been the envy of many."

These were contained in a statement issued in Accra and signed by Chief Obosu Mohammed, Director of Communications, PYF.

It said "we the members of Patriotic Youth Front wish to send our heartfelt and goodwill message, to all five able contenders, seeking to lead our noble party to victory in Election 2012."

The statement expressed appreciation that all the aspirants had toured the country to freely propagate their message to delegates without vindictiveness, rancour and vituperation.

It said "This indeed, has energised and rejuvenated the grassroots to take up the challenge of consolidating their efforts in restoring the party back to political power. It is a plus in the cup of our tradition and we sincerely thank all and sundry, be it aspirants, delegates and sympathisers for the level of maturity and discipline exhibited over the past few months, and hope that would perpetuate into and after the elections".

The statement said PYF was of the conviction that the discerning delegates, would do the party and Ghanaians good, by voting for a winnable candidate.

It said such a person should be bold, decisive, visionary, unifier and more appealing to all Ghanaians and should be able wrest power from the National Democratic Congress and bring back hope to the people.

The statement called on the National Executive Committee and the Election Committee to ensure fairness and transparency during the polls.

"Therefore, "winners and losers alike", should join hands in unity and camaraderie to promote the tenets and ideals of our great tradition, to salvage Ghanaians from the bondage of economic and social injustice," it said.

The election is scheduled for Saturday, August 7.
