Minister for the Interior tours Western Region

Accra, July 21, GNA - Minister for the Interior, Mr. Martin Amidu, would begin a three-day working visit to the Western Region on Thursday, July 22, to acquaint himself with the operations and activities of the various agencies and departments under the Ministry.

A statement issued by the Ministry in Accra on Wednesday said this was the second of series of regional tours to be undertaken by the Interior Minister.

The first tour was in the Upper West Region in May, this year.

The statement said the visit would afford Mr. Amidu the opportunity to learn and assess, at first hand, conditions under which the agencies operated, and the challenges they faced in the performance of their respective duties in the Region.

He would pay a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister, Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, at Sekondi, address durbars of personnel of the various security agencies under the Ministry to outline his vision within the framework of their respective mandates.

Mr. Amidu would hold a meeting with the Western Regional Security Council on security situation in the Region, meet the Western Regional Peace Advisory Council on its conflict mediation and resolution efforts.

He would also visit the agencies and address personnel stationed at the Elubo border, Jewi Wharf, Half Assini and Cape Three Point.
