NDC says economy on verge of breakthrough

Ho, July 20, GNA - Mr Kwasi Aboagye, Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said the country was at the verge of a major economic transformation anchored on good governance.

He therefore called for public/private partnership and cooperation from all, irrespective of one's political affiliation, for rapid national development.

Mr Aboagye told the GNA in an interview that as a social democratic government, the government was committed to bringing back the smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.

He said the party's strength in the region was as solid as ever and debunked media reports that suggest that the fortunes of the NDC were dipping in the region.

He said party would deliver on its campaign promises, majority of which had already been set in motion.

Mr Aboagye said feasibility studies on the public University of Health and Allied Sciences with campuses in Ho and Hohoe, the eastern corridor roads and others have reached advanced stages and work would start soon.

He commended the party's activists in the region for their patience and co-operation adding that government would reach out to them.

Mr Aboagye said apart from constituency visitations to gather information, the regional office would soon embark on capacity building programmes for core executives of the party towards updating them on governance issues and strategies.
