Ghana hosts 2010 Steering Group Meeting of GNEP

Accra, June 14, GNA - Ghana would host the 2010 Steering Group Meeting of Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) from Wednesday, June 16-17 in Accra.

GNEP is a group of countries including Ghana committed to promoting the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear energy. This is done by accelerating the development and deployment of advanced but clean fuel cycle technologies in order to reduce the risk of nuclear proliferation and to protect the environment. A statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Dr A.K. Ofosu Ahenkorah, Executive Secretary of Ghana Energy Commission, said this year's meeting was the first to be held on the African continent.
