Controller and Accountant Generals

Accra, June 4, GNA - Mr Albert Kan Dapaah, Chairman of the Public Account Committee of Parliament has urged the Controller and Accountant Generals Department, to ensure proper book keeping and accounting principles to restore public confidence in its operations. Mr Dapaah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Afigya-Sekyere West called on the department to invest in modern equipment that would produce pay slips that would be in accordance with the objectives of the Single Spine Salary Structure, which takes effect on July 1. He gave the advice during the second hearing of the committee on the Auditor General's report on the Public Accounts of Ghana for the year ending December 31, 2007 and 2008. Mr Seth Terkpeh, Deputy Minister of Finance who appeared before the committee said a lot of work had been done on the payroll system.
