Failure to channel resources to grassroots caused our defeat - Akuffo-Addo

...caused our defeat
New Abirem (E/R), May, 31, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo, Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2008 elections, said a major problem the party encountered in the 2008 election, which caused their defeat was the failure to channel resources to the grassroots.

He said even though the party executive mobilized a lot of funds for campaign, those monies never got to the people who did the ground work. Nana Akuffo-Addo assured that when he got the nod to lead the party in 2012, he would provide all the needed resources and financial support, and would ensure that those resources get into the hands of the polling station executives.

Nana Akuffo-Addo thanked the party supporters for the confidence reposed in him in 2007 and elected him as presidential candidate of the party and urged them to do same come August 07, this year. He was speaking at New Abirem on Saturday to begin his campaign tour of the Eastern Region where he interacted with polling station executives in the area.

He said Ghanaians have regretted voting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power.

Nana Akuffo-Addo said the NDC "Better Ghana Agenda" had failed completely turning into "Bitter Ghana agenda" where shortage of fuel and kerosene was the order of the day.

He said since NDC assumed the leadership of the country, it had not initiated and implemented a single policy on its own. Nana Akuffo-Addo called on Ghanaians to return the NPP to power come 2012 to continue with the good policies they started, which included the School Feeding Programme, the National Health Insurance and Capitation Grant among others.

Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, former Minister for Youth and Sports and the chairman of the campaign team, said nobody had served the NPP with commitment and dedication more than Nana Akuffo -Addo. He therefore urged the people to vote massively for Nana Akuffo-Addo to lead the party to victory in 2012. Nana Akuffo-Addo also visited the Afram Plains North and South Constituencies, where he addressed party supporters and solicited for their votes.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the media relations coordinator of the Nana Akuffo-Addo campaign team, Mr Herbert Krapa, said the 2008 presidential candidate for the NPP had already visited Central, Western, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions
