Former NPP chairman calls for decent campaigning

Senya Beraku (C/R), May 27, GNA - The Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Harona Esseku, has appealed to the aspiring flag bearers of the party to do decent campaigning to enable the party win back power in 2012.

He expressed regret about usage of bad language, insults and provocative statements by some candidates and said if these are not stopped it could bring division in the party and even discourage others from joining it. Mr Esseku, who is also a member of NPP National Executive Committee and the National Council, said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Senya Beraku.

He reminded NPP activists that the party is bigger than any individual person and urged people wishing to become flag bearers to campaign in line with the party's constitution.

Mr Esseku said the NPP would need unity to win the 2012 election and appealed to members and supporters not to do anything that would create division in the party.

The NPP would elect its flag bearer on August 07 and the former National Chairman appealed to delegates not to be influenced with money.
