Condemn wrong doings of members, political parties urged

Winneba (C/R), May 26, GNA - A founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi

Mintah, has urged political parties to condemn wrong doings of their members to discourage others from

doing same. "Anything which is wrong is wrong, no mater the perpetrator, and it must be condemned by all", Mr

Mintah said in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Winneba. He said it seemed politicians had two lenses from which they saw actions done by their members as right

but the same actions by their opponents as wrong. Mr Mintah was commenting on alleged disparaging remarks made by a teacher, Mr Adu Gyamfi, who is

also a supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on a radio programme in Kumasi against President John

Evans Atta Mills. He said the way the NPP handled a similar issue when their activist allegedly claimed that Former

President Jerry John Rawlings deliberately burnt down his residence, encouraged the teacher to insult the

sitting President. He said the party's (NPP) behaviour in the case against Nana Darkwa who accused the former President

of burning his residence made him a hero when the case was taken to court. He said if the party had condemned the action of Nana Darkwa, Mr Adu Gyamfi, the teacher, would not

have insulted President Mills. Mr Mintah noted with concern the behaviour of the teacher who imparts knowledge to students and

asked, what type of knowledge this man would give to our students. He requested the Association to which he belongs to take up the issue since he had disgraced them. Mr Mintah condemned the impunity which was gaining grounds in the country and blamed it on the

actions of some politicians. He said the impunity would not help in national development and reminded Ghanaians that building a

better nation was a collective responsibility and not for only a ruling government. 26 May 10
