Jumah accuses Jake & co of Nana bias

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has impliedly accused the party's national executives, led by its Chairman, Mr. Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, of being biased towards Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2012 flagbearership race.

Mr. Jumah, who is a leading member of the campaign team of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, made this veiled accusation in a text message he allegedly sent to some national executive members, copied to all those who have indicated their intention to contest the NPP's August 7, 2010 Congress to elect its 2012 flagbearer.

The Asokwa MP, in the text message, implied that the national executives had invited the entire executives of the NPP in the three Northern Regions to Sunyani from tomorrow (14th to 16th), without any stated agenda. He also mentioned that Nana Akufo-Addo will be in Sunyani at the same time.

Mr. Jumah however warned "I am going to be there to monitor to make sure genuine party business takes place."

F or the avoidance of doubt, here is the full text message the Daily Dispatch claimed it intercepted:

“TO NATIONAL EXECUTIVES:

I have just been informed that you have invited the entire executives of the NPP in the three Northern Regions to Sunyani from 14th to 16th.

No agenda was given. Nana will be in town. I am going to be there to monitor, to make sure genuine party business takes place. I am by this, informing all candidates. Again, when is the executive going to form an election committee? From Maxwell Kofi Jumah."
