GREEN BROADBAND FOR GHANA.
Green broadband means free telephone calls for all Ghanaians starting 2013 and
enriching Ghanaian lives.

Currently, most countries offer Voip services except for Ghana. Voip stands for
Voice over internet protocol. Voip runs on the internet. Through Voip you can
make free phone calls to any part of the world as long as you have internet
access. The government have blocked Voip so they can squeeze more money from
you. Skype is an example of free phone calls. Just go to the internet café and
type in www.skype.com

Akoto’s green broadband plan calls for internet broadband to be deployed in every
community in Ghana with proceeds from the new found oil. The plan allows Ghanaians
to make free phone calls worldwide 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Broadband will
unite Ghana by breaking tribal barriers. A job seeker in Azim can telecommute for
a job in Kumasi; a medical specialist in New York providing medical consultations to
a patient in Bawku; grandparents in Hohoe video-chatting with their grandchildren in
London; a farmer at Kumawu can sell his or her products to a person in Italy. The
applications that broadband enables provide innovative, efficient solutions to
challenges Ghanaians confront every day.

This green broadband will contain our hospitals, schools, government, businesses and
all other public interest institutions. We will eradicate corruption with
broadband because all government records will be exposed to Ghanaian citizens; from
procurements to contracts to all other accounts. This plan recommends government
use the Internet to increase its own transparency and make more of its data
available online.

Akoto’s plan can make Ghana lead the world in mobile innovation, with the fastest
and most extensive wireless networks of any nation. Mobile broadband is growing at
unprecedented rates. From smartphones to app stores to e-book readers to remote
patient monitoring to tracking goods in transit and more, mobile services and
technologies are driving innovation and playing an increasingly important role in
our lives and our economy. Mobile broadband is the next great challenge and
opportunity for Ghana if we must grow. Imagine what broadband will do for our
eco-tourism.

Every Ghanaian will have affordable access to robust broadband service, and the
means and skills to subscribe if they so choose. Every village and every
community will have access. Not having access to broadband applications limits
an individual’s ability to participate in 21st century Ghanaian life. Health care,
education and other important aspects of Ghanaian life are moving online. What’s
more, government services and democratic participation are shifting to digital
platforms.
