President Mills grants old lady's wish

Accra, April 1, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills, on Thursday set the tone for care and concern for the elderly during the Easter festivities, by visiting two aged sisters resident in Asylum Down in Accra.

President Mills expressed thanks to God for meeting once again with Madam Ellen Blebu, 104 and her sister, Martha Ayaye 82, who were also full of appreciation for his visit.

The visit follows a request by Madam Blebu through an Accra media station, to at least see the President in her more advance age once again= .. Although Thursday is a very busy day for the President, he took time off to grant the wish of the old lady.

He had a chat with the two sisters and together wished for God's blessings on one another.

President Mills also asked for God's blessing on Madam Blebu for the= care and concern she showed him in the past.

"You didn't sit down in your house, but even in your advance age, you came all the way to the Airport to welcome me on my return from South Africa," President Mills said in Fanti, in response to the welcoming words from Madam Blebu.

President Mills expressed appreciation for the warm reception, when rumours were rife that he had died in South Africa, during the run up to the 2008 elections.

Describing the President as her father, Madam reminiscence the day s= he had the chance to hug him on his return from South Africa and expressed t= he wish for a reunion and a repeat of that warm hug. With a convivial show of affection President Mills prayed for long l= ife and God's blessing for Madam Blebu and thanked her sincerely for her motherly concern. He promised to pay her regular visits.
