Board of directors for Cape Coast-Bonn Sister City partnership inaugurated

Cape Coast, March 30, GNA - An eleven-member board of directors charged with the responsibility of running the affairs between Cape Coast and Bonn City in Germany, was inaugurated by the Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Ama Benyiwa-Doe at the weekend. The board is among others to ensure a mutually beneficial and lasting relationship between the two cities. It has the mayor of Cape Coast, Mr Anthony Egyir Aikins as chairman.

Mrs Benyiwa-Doe asked them to guard against a relationship that will make one partner a perpetual aid recipient and the other a donor, and cautioned that such a relationship will not last. She asked the members of the board to make commitment and dedication their watchwords and to serve people of the two cities with diligence and always make the people's interest paramount.

The Minister charged the directors to come out with well defined projects and pay attention to environmental management, biodiversity, education, health, tourism, cultural and socio-economic development and institutional strengthening.

Mrs Benyiwa-Doe urged them to use the opportunity to improve upon the quality of life of people in the metropolis. She was optimistic that they will bring their expertise to bear on the relationship to "stand the test of time".

Mr Selete Nyomi, on behalf of his colleagues gave the assurance that they will work hard to sustain the partnership. The Cape Coast-Bonn Sister City partnership was established three years ago but has undergone tremendous growth within the past two years, with a couple of visits between officials of the two cities to both Cape Coast and Bonn.
