National service personnel cautioned

Ho, March 20, GNA - Mr Michael Totimey, Volta Regional Director of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), has warned voluntary service personnel who abandoned the Service for other jobs but continued to take National Service allowances to desist from the act. Mr Totimey gave the warning during the election of regional Executives of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) in Ho. He said the act was having a negative impact on the educational sector since most voluntary service personnel were posted to teach in rural areas to make up for the limited number of teachers in those areas.

Mr Totimey urged the National Service personnel to notify the secretariat of their departure from the voluntary service. He asked the newly elected officers to collaborate with their District and Municipal Directors to find solutions to the challenges facing all national service personnel in the region. "Do not disgrace Volta Region, collaborate with your directors and don't quarrel with them", he said. The new President, Mr Moses Alorgbey, pledged that his team will cooperate with the directors, to seek the way forward. Other newly elected executive are, Lartey Stephens, Vice President, Gbesemete Selorm, Secretary, Richard Offei, Finance Officer and Francis Ocloo Organizing Secretary.
