Court remands "Jesus One Touch" for alleged incest

Accra, March 9, GNA - An Accra Circuit court on Tuesday remanded Nana Kofi Yirenkyi (a.k.a "Jesus One Touch"), Founder and General Overseer of Jesus Blood Ministry at Oblogo in Greater Accra for allegedly having sex with his 10-year-old daughter.

The plea of the accused was not taken and remanded in police custody to re-appear on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Police Chief Inspector Isaac Ahor, prosecuting prayed the court to remand the accused in police custody for further investigations. The court, presided over by Madam Georgina Mensah-Datse obliged and granted the prosecution's request.

Counsel for the accused prayed the court for bail because his client was a respected prophet, who heads a recognised church, well known in the country and would not abscond.

Police Chief Inspector Ahor prosecuting said sometime last month; the victim's mother, who lives at Akropong-Akwapim in the Eastern Region came for her after she had stayed with the accused for the past five years. He said the victim's mother, who is a trader noticed some unusual behaviour and frequently wet her bed.

Police Chief Inspector Ahor said her mother therefore asked the victim, who confirmed the accused defiled her.

He said the matter was reported at the Akropong-Akwapim Domestic Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) on March 2, 2010 which referred the matter to the Ministries Police Station in Accra for further investigations.
